Hi everyone and happy Labour Day!
I think I have a nail polish addiction, because I don't like very much metallics (we're talking about them, today!), BUT I have dozens of them. Seriously. I don't like them because their own effect shows up only when you use the magnet (and there's a magnet for every formula)... and it seems to me like a vasting time. And because you have to use the magnet when the nail polish is still wet... you know what I mean!
Anyway, I picked up three samples, Magnetic Force by Color Club Hipnotic, debby Magnetic 07 Moon and China Glaze Magnetix Bond-tastic.

Questa Finishpedia mi sta mettendo di fronte al fatto che ho un problema, perché pur non amando alcuni finish, finisco per ritrovarmene a dozzine nei cassetti. Davvero. Prendiamo il finish magnetico di cui parliamo oggi. Magnetic Force by Color Club Hipnotic (there is not a typo!) is a cherry red magnetic. You could easily use the magnet on the top of the bottle, and it's very useful, because you also have something like a step where you could place your finger.

I have to be honest and say that I don't like this magnetic effect. I wear this polish without using the magnet, 'cause it seems like a cherry shimmer. Very classy!

Magnetic Force by Color Club Hipnotic (scritto proprio così) è di un bel rosso ciliegia. Il magnete si trova sul tappo, così potete sempre portarvelo dietro. In più, c'è una specie di scalino in cui appoggiare il dito mentre il magnete compie la sua magia.

Sarò onesta, e vi dirò che questo tipo di effetto magnetico non mi convince poi molto. Preferisco indossarlo nature perché assomiglia ad un elegantissimo shimmer rosso ciliegia.

I've found debby Magnetic 07 Moon with a lady magazine a couple of week ago. I took it because the name and the shade. I don't know if I can call it indigo or not, but I like it. And I'm a Cancer Born, so I must have it. By the way, did you have a Debby Cancer bottle to swap? Let me know!
This effect is strong, but my nails are curved, so it's not easy to use a flat magnet.

Ho trovato debby Magnetic 07 Moon in allegato con una rivista un paio di settimane fa. Inutile dire che l'ho preso per il nome (sono pur sempre un Cancro!) e per il colore, che non so se sia indaco o meno, ma mi piace. A proposito: non è che vi avanza una boccetta di Debby Cancer, alle volte?
L'effetto è ben visibile, ma con le unghie molto curve come le mie non è facile usare un magnete piatto.

China Glaze Magnetix Bond-Taste. The epic fail ever. I purchased it two years ago, at the China Glaze italian retailler. They didn't have the magnet on sale, but they assured me that I do not need its own magnet BECAUSE (quote) "it works with ANY magnet!"(/quote). Any. What does exactly means "any"? Everyone, right? Right. So, let me say that is not true. I tried to use CC Hipnotic's magnet (you could see my poor results on my medium) and this is what I get.
I like the shade - in the bottle is more warm and clear, anyway - and I'm trying to make deal with brown shades. They are cutey, afterall. (Yup, things change, my friends!)

China Glaze Magnetix Bond-Taste. La più grossa sola di sempre! Quando ho comprato questa boccetta (assieme ad un altro paio di sorelline) avevano esaurito i magneti (sì, si comprano a parte...), ma di stare tranquilla che tanto "funziona con qualsiasi magnete!" (cit.). Ora, a casamia "qualsiasi" ha un significato ben preciso. Tipo, lo stesso pratico magnete sul tappo di casa Color Club. Ma anche no! I risultati li potete vedere sul medio. Se vi dovessero capitare tra le zampe, comprate anche il magnete!
Sto facendo pace coi toni del marrone. Questo mi piace (in boccetta di più). Non ci credete, eh? (Succede. Succede, succede.)

Actually, I do not have too much to say about ILNP Masquerade, because, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. BUT, because Barbra has done a very good work making this little boy, I must spend a couple of words.
Masquerade is a Multi-Chrome. Yup, Multi-Chrome, because you could see at least five shades. Five, my ladies: red, brown, gold, purple and green. BUT, if you take a look at this baby underwater you should see teal and blue too!

C'è ben poco da dire su ILNP Masquerade. Le foto dovrebbero parlare da sole, giusto (vale più un immagine, ecc. ecc.). Ma poiché Barbra ha fatto un lavoro coi controfiocchi, non posso non lodare ad alta voce questa meraviglia. Mettetevi comomode.
Masquerade è un duochrome (Multi-Chrome, prego) che spazia dal rosso al teal, compresi tutti i colori nell'intervallo (marrone, oro, verde, viola). C'è anche il teal, ma per fotografarlo al meglio è necessario allegare un paio di scatti subacquei («Zubbaqqui!»).

It's one of the most amazing duochrome... sorry, multi-chrome I've ever seen.
It dries fast and doesn't need any "underwear". The formula is perfect and his brush is long and thin, so I can manage it pretty easily. I'm not able to use bigger brush, 'cause my nails are not so wide.

Indubbiamente è uno dei duo-chrome... ehm, multi-chrome più ipnotici di sempre, di quelli che ti fanno vincere dritta dritta un giro per la giostra del tunnel carpale. In più asciuga velocemente e non ha bisogno di mutanda, che anzi attutisce l'effetto (scostumato!!). La formula è fluida qb e il pennello è lungo e sottile. Coi pennelli ciccioni faccio a cazzotti...

Today is a national holiday here in Italy, and we mostly spend this day having the first barbecue of the year. Today was a little bit overcast, so I took a bad sunstroke. My skin is very pale and I shoul use a decent sun block cream. Shame on me!
The finish I'm about to introduce to yourself is an effect: the crackle. Crackle is a découpage effect that you use when you want to make something look older. I don't like this finish/effect, 'cause it's quite boring, but the nail polish I want to share with you is an exception: mi-ny color croc 03 Brown.

Despite the others crackle nail polishes, mi-ny color croc gives a crocodile skin effect to your nails. I love it, it's very similar to a repltile skin. Cool, it isn't?

A differenza degli altri crackle, che assomigliano a vernice scheggiata, mi-ny color croc dona un reale effetto coccodrillo alle vostre unghie. Per me che adoro i rettili, è una figata totale! Qui ne vedete una sola mano sopra Frammenti 01 Jungle Queen.
Questo effetto non mi convince. Può essere utile per camuffare uno smalto sbeccato quando non si ha il tempo di rimuoverlo e di passare un altro colore; ma oltre a ciò, non è che mi persuadano poi tanto... Credo che ne bastino due o tre al massimo, tanto per avere la casella spuntata. A patto di non amarli alla follia, ma quelli sono affari vostri.

I started this week doin' some medical check ups (I've had too many head pain in the past ten days) and I've been busy. It's time to share with you my nail art for our monthly episode of Sailing. Are you ready? Brace yourself and remeber: do not never ever rely on what Usopp says (becose is a pathological liar...)!
Questa settimana sono stata impegnata con alcuni accertamenti medici (troppi dolori alla zucca negli ultimi dieci giorni), sicché posto in ritardo l'appuntamento con Sailing. Oggi tocca ad Usopp, perciò mi raccomando, non fidatevi mai di quello che dice (perché è un pallonaro di primissima categoria...)!
Usopp (aka Captain Usopp) is a 17 years old pathological liar. His aspect is a mix from Collodi's Pinocchio and japanese tengu. He's born on April 1st and his name means lie (Usopp from uso, lie). He's the proud son of Yasopp, a pirate from Shanks' crew, and lives with his sick mother waiting for his father's come back. He's used to say TONS of fibs, to lighten up his friend's life. He meets Rufy when the Mugiwara crew makes landfall to his island. Rufy and co help Usopp to overwhelm Kuro's pirates (they want rob and kill Usopp's best friend, Kaya), then Captain Usopp joins the crew and sails on the Going Merry (gift of Kaya). Usopp is the ship's carpenter, the artist and the inventor of the Mugiwara crew. He'll become a talented sniper, and he'll wear the mask of Sogeking (King of Sniper, Sogeking, please) during Enies Lobby's battle.
Usopp è un bugiardo patentato di diciassette anni, l'anello di congiunzione tra un Tengu e Pinocchio. Il suo nome significa bugia (uso) e di frottole ne spara a più non posso per abbellire la vita di chi gli sta attorno, a cominciare dalla mamma malata fino alla sua amica Kaya. È il figlio di Yasopp, uno dei pirati di Shanks il Rosso, e ha preso dal padre - che ha lasciato la famiglia quando Usopp era ancora piccolo - la sua grande abillità come cecchino. Incontra Rufy e soci quando questi sbarcano sulla sua isola in cerca di un carpentiere e, già che ci sono, lo aiutano a salvare Kaya dalle grinfie di Kuro, deciso a derubare ed accoppare Kaya. Because it's made of simple poppies, Unikko is a very pretty AND easy pattern to replicate on the nails. I love make Unikko because it's quite a relaxing practice. very zen, don't you agree? And it's such an happy pattern. Yellow doesn't fit me, but I like his positives vibration. And I think it's a pretty spring-y pattern!!
Unikko è un disegno facilissimo da riprodurre. Si tratta di papaveri stilizzati, che adoro fare perché mi rilassano parecchio. Una cosa molto zen, insomma. E poi suvvia, i papaveri sono molto primaverili, non trovate? Mi spiace solo che il giallo non mi stia granché bene, ma chissene. Mi godo la sua carica di allegria e di vitalità fino all'ultima goccia!!

I think it depends. I don't like someone lies to me, but I understand that, sometimes and only if there's a true reason, fibs are necessary. For making our life much more pretty and lesser heavy, e.g.

I like enjoing my breakfast in the middle of the morning, around 10.00 am. I'm not a morning person, and I need some time (a couple of hours) to wake myself up. When I'm out, for errands to run or for medical check-ups, or when I was a freshman, I like enjoy a cappuccino. I love the milky foam and the light roasted coffee. And I'm far far away of this world, in my golden and warm cocoon.

Di solito faccio colazione verso metà mattinata, ché io non sono un tipo che si alza dal letto pimpante come un petardo. Mi occorrono un paio d'ore, minimo. Se faccio colazione al bar (tipo quand'ero matricola, che mi toccava la levataccia all'alba), ho il rito del cappuccino. Adoro la schiumetta del latte ed il caffè non più rovente. Per me è come starmene nella mia bolla personale, a godermi il calore della tazza.

I tried the dry water marble techinque. I basically followed this tutorial (it's so hard to call it so!) and I've let the pattern dry. Then, I've cutted the swirls and I've placed them over one coat of clear polish.
It's a nice techinique, 'cause it's too easy make some nice pattern AND aim for the best design you want. BUT these stickers are a little bit thick for my taste and it's not easy avoid bubble or wrinkles. Maybe I just need a little bit of practice.

I've the luck to spend many mornings at home, so I can dip some coockies in my english breakfast tea when I need to and not when I have to. But, sometimes, I like enjoy a warm cappuccino cup. It's something I can barely find everywhere in the world when I need a little hint of coffee (no, I dislike drip coffee).

It's the best place to spend some times on your own, thinking, plotting new ideas, feeling new sensations and waiting for the good season. And enjoying the sand and the water before the summer's crowd.
I just mixed up two tutorials, one of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and one of Janelle from elleandish (You could found them here and here).
I used two coat of Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù (a light blue crème) as base. Then I layered Orly Night Owl (a taupe brown with a golden shimmer), Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù and Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue (a blue crème) over a piece of bath sponge and I sponged them over my nails. Then, in a small cup of room temperature filtered water, I dipping two drops of China Glaze White Out and China Glaze Rainbow. I sprayed a little bit of alcohol and I dived my fingers.
I used a mat top coat from Basic Beauty, an italian brand now called BB.

Ho scelto di riprodurre il mare sulle mie unghiette. Idea banalotta, lo so, ma morivo dalla voglia di avere uno scampolo d'acqua e sabbia sulle dita. Io amo il mare in ogni stagione, specie d'inverno, quando lo si può godere in riflessiva solitudine, senza la baraonda ed il caos che lo assedia d'estate.

I used a mat top coat because it gives a much more real effect to your nails. Sea tides are not shiny, but mat.

Il top coat mat regala un effetto più realistico all'insieme. Le onde e la schiuma marina sono opache, non lucide.

Thanks Goddess, we have seen the last episode of Broadchurch. What. A. Shame! Rumors say that we'll be a third season, and I'm very scared! Do we really need a third season, dear Heavens? Seriously?
Usually second seasons are something like a bridge between first and third, but this rule counts only if you have a story to tell. I think they have not and the second season is just the exception that proves the rule, but it's my humble opinion.
Today I want to share with you my exception that proves the rule. One of the many I keept in my sleeve, of course. If you know my tastes, you should also know that I have some kind of problems wearing brown polishes on my nails. I like this shade, but I don't think it fits on me. OPI Green on the Runaway is the exception that proves the rule.

Grazie al Cielo, abbiamo visto l'ultima puntata di Broadchurch. Un vero peccato, hanno gestito male l'intera faccenda dall'inizio. Pare che gireranno anche una terza stagione, ed io sono piuttosto perplessa. Le seconde stagioni sono di solito dei ponti che traghettano la storia dal primo al terzo atto, ma questo vale solo se c'è una storia da raccontare. Secondo me, la seconda stagione di Broadchurch ha ampiamente dimostrato che la risposta è "no".
Parlando di eccezioni e regole, oggi vi mostro una delle tante che costellano la mia vita. Chi mi conosce SA che il marrone mi piace, ma che non riesco a vedermelo addosso. Ebbene, OPI Green on the Runaway è stata una deliziosissima eccezione...
OPI Green on the Runaway is a duochrome from the Coca Cola Collection (Fall 2014). Sadly, here in Italy we have seen only the red crème and the silver chrome at Sephora stores. Ok, there's the vanilla crème too. I found this lovely gorgeous baby at Selfridges on Boxing Day in London, and I have adopted immediatly. You can see this lovely shade-shifter over two coats of Barry M Black, because you couldn't wear OPI's duochromes without a base. You can't miss the complete shift between green and red, don't you agree?
OPI Green on the Runaway è un duochrome verde/rosso che arriva dalla collezione Coca Cola (Autunno 2014); purtroppo, presso i Sephora in Italia si sono visti solo le lacche rosso e crema e il chrome argento. Ho trovato questo cucciolo durante i saldi da Selfridges a Santo Stefano e non me lo sono lasciato scappare. Qui lo vedete sopra due mani di Barry M Black; purtroppo, i duochrome di OPI sono da stendere tassativamente sopra una mutanda, altrimenti si rischia di perdere tutta la loro bellezza.
I'm sorry for showing you these horrible cuticles, but I've hade some problems two week ago. The remover I've used was too aggressive and dried up my cuticles, and I have had some bendages over my right hand, so it has been difficult using the cuticle balm.
I really enjoyed this lovely guy. There's also a golden hint in the bottle that over your nails becomes the brown shade that has seduced me.

Vi prego di non badare all'aspetto orrendo delle mie cuticole. Purtroppo, il solvente che avevo sottomano era troppo aggressivo, e siccome la scorsa settimana ho avuto l'intera mano destra fasciata, è stato un po' complicato passare la crema per le cuticole.
Questo smalto mi ha conquistata! Come potete vedere, c'è anche un alone dorato in boccetta, il 'responsabile' della sfumatura marrone. Credo proprio che lo userò ancora e ancora e ancora, magari come base per una nail art (avete forse detto stamping?!).
