Better late than never, today I'll show you one (of the many) nail polishes my hubby gives to me as birthday present. You know, I like discover new indie brands and I love Norse Mythology too. So, when last years I stubled upon The Nine Realm collection, I instantly had a HUGE crush for CrowsToes. The nail polish I'm going to show you is called Vanaheim (it means "Realm of Vani", one of the two kind of gods in Norse Mythology, the local ones) and it's an extraordinary multichrome that shifts from green Péridot to copper and also teal, WITH constrasting glitters wich go from copper to teal and to gold.
I've used two coats over my base coat and the top coat to smooth the surface (glitter give an unpleseant ruggedness).

Per la serie meglio tardi che mai, oggi vi mostro un dei tanti smalti che il consorte mi ha regalato per il mio compleanno. Saprete sicuramente quanto mi piaccia conoscere nuove marche indie, ma forse non saprete che adoro la mitologia norrena. Non vi stupirà immaginare quanti secondi io ci abbia impiegato per innamorarmi alla follia della collezione The Nine Realms di CrowsToe. Lo smalto che vi mostro oggi si chiama Vanaheim (letteralmente, Regno dei Vani, uno dei due ceppi di divinità della mitologia norrena, quello autoctono e legato alla terra) ed è uno straordinario duochrome che passa dal verde peridoto al ruggine e al teal. Come se non bastasse, c'è anche un'infusione di glitter multicolor che fa il percforso inverso: rame, teal e oro. Uno spettacolo, insomma!
Qui vedete due passate sopra la mia classica base, e un filo di top coat per rendere liscia ed omogenea la superficie dell'unghia.

Stasera vorrei condividere con voi una water marble che ho fatto qualche tempo fa (lo scorso Novembre, o giù di lì). Si tratta di un esperimento realizzato con gli smalti holografici di China Glaze e sono molto soddisfatta del risultato.

First of all, I started with two coats of China Glaze Innocent, a sheer pink nail polish, perfect for french manicure. I don't remember how I've saved my swatch about it, but don't panic. I'll share it with you very very soon.
Per prima cosa, si parte con due mani di China Glaze Innocent, uno smalto sheer rosato perfetto per la french manicure. Non ricordo con quale nome io abbia salvato gli swatch relativi, ma abbiate fede. Salteranno fuori presto!
Then into a room temperature water I poured some drops of China Glaze LOL (Rich purple linear holo), China Glaze DV8 (gorgeous bright teal blue linear holo) and China Glaze 2NITE (bright medium blue linear holo) from the astonishing OMG collection. I know, for someone this water marble could be an aberration, but look at these nails and tell me it wasn't worth the disturb.
Quindi, ho versato alcune gocce di China Glaze LOL (viola), China Glaze DV8 (teal) e China Glaze 2NITE (azzurro) in una coppetta con dell'acqua demineralizzata a temperatura ambiente. Ho disegnato delle linee et voila. Mi rendo conto che per alcune di voi questo sembrerà un sacrilegio, ma ne vale la pena, no?
I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition that holos could work with water marble. They spread nicely and using them was a bed of roses, because the formula is a little bit sticky.

Non mi aspettavo l'Inquisizione Spagnola che questi smalti funzionassero così bene in acqua e si aprissero tanto facilmente! Forse si deve alla formula piuttosto viscosa, ma mi hanno lasciata piacevolemente a bocca aperta.

Actually, I do not have too much to say about ILNP Masquerade, because, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. BUT, because Barbra has done a very good work making this little boy, I must spend a couple of words.
Masquerade is a Multi-Chrome. Yup, Multi-Chrome, because you could see at least five shades. Five, my ladies: red, brown, gold, purple and green. BUT, if you take a look at this baby underwater you should see teal and blue too!

C'è ben poco da dire su ILNP Masquerade. Le foto dovrebbero parlare da sole, giusto (vale più un immagine, ecc. ecc.). Ma poiché Barbra ha fatto un lavoro coi controfiocchi, non posso non lodare ad alta voce questa meraviglia. Mettetevi comomode.
Masquerade è un duochrome (Multi-Chrome, prego) che spazia dal rosso al teal, compresi tutti i colori nell'intervallo (marrone, oro, verde, viola). C'è anche il teal, ma per fotografarlo al meglio è necessario allegare un paio di scatti subacquei («Zubbaqqui!»).

It dries fast and doesn't need any "underwear". The formula is perfect and his brush is long and thin, so I can manage it pretty easily. I'm not able to use bigger brush, 'cause my nails are not so wide.

Indubbiamente è uno dei duo-chrome... ehm, multi-chrome più ipnotici di sempre, di quelli che ti fanno vincere dritta dritta un giro per la giostra del tunnel carpale. In più asciuga velocemente e non ha bisogno di mutanda, che anzi attutisce l'effetto (scostumato!!). La formula è fluida qb e il pennello è lungo e sottile. Coi pennelli ciccioni faccio a cazzotti...

L.A. Colors Cosmetics is an american brand. You could find their products in almost every drugstore (I saw on their website there's a drugstore named Navarro! Seriously?! I love this name!). Their products are cruelty free and their nail polishes' formula contains hardner.
Atomic is a bright medium teal. My camera hates this range of color (and corals too!), so please, be kind and use your immagination to try to see this shade a little bit greener.

Ok, maybe I should use a top coat, because the very next day it was chipped on the edges, but it dries very fast, so it was not a problem remove it and paint my nails again. And it doesn't stains! It's quite a miracle!

L.A. Colors è una marca americana da drugstore. Potete trovarla quasi ovunque (semmai vi capitasse di fare un viaggetto oltreoceano, date un'occhiata al loro sito web!). I loro prodotti (ombretti, rossetti, smalti, matite...) sono tutti cruelty free e i loro smalti contengono anche un fattore indurente.
Atomic è una lacca di una bel ottanio medio. Purtroppo, la mia macchina fotografica detesta coralli e ottani (almeno è coerente!), quindi provate ad immaginarci un pizzico di verde in più. Ho usato due mani e niente top coat, perché è molto lucido di suo. Forse avrei dovuto stenderlo, perché già il giorno dopo s'era sbeccato sulle punte. Pazienza. Asciuga così velocemente che ci vuole un attimo per toglierlo e rimetterlo. E non stinge! Chi grida con me al miracolo?

I do not make any difference between low range or high-rank. I mind the quality of any single product I buy. And if a product is cheaper and top class at the same time, I'm the happiest girl in the block.

Misa Quirky Smile is a teal shimmer I purchased two years ago during Roma Aestetica, something like a very small Cosmoprof we have here in Rome between the end of January and early days of February. I didn't tried it since few minutes ago. Shame. On. Me. It's a glorious and gorgeous dark teal shade, with a little duochrome effect (between indigo and teal) and a silver shimmer. Lovely!
I'm afraid this little beauty will stain my cuticles, so I must remind myself to use a LOT of vaseline (or jojoba oil) around my cuticles BEFORE the remover step.

Misa Quirky Smile è uno shimmer ottanio che ho preso ad un Roma Aestetica di un paio di anni fa. Si tratta di una manifestazione del settore simile ad un Cosmoprof piccino picciò che si tiene tra la fine di Gennaio e gli inizi di Febbraio. Indovinate? Esatto, l'ho provato per queste foto. E mi mangio le mani!! È un glorioso punto ottanio scuro che vira verso l'indaco il viola con un bellissimo e discreto shimmer argento. FiQuissimo!!

I must confess (that my loneliness/ Is killing me noooow) I don't like jellies, because I dislike to see my smile line. I think it's ugly and I have just a couple of jellies in my stash (I've bought them by mistake). Ladies and Gentlemen, please, say "Hello" to our special guest, China Glaze Keepin' It Teal!

Tipo questo, China Glaze Keepin It Teal, un bellissimo (in bottiglia) turchesone che arriva dritto dritto dalla Sunsetional 2013.

A jelly polish is the first cousin of a crème. How we could describe it? It's easy! Imagine to put something like a jelly fish over your nails. This is a jelly polish. They are extremely glossy, but you'll need al least 3 coats (as you can see in my pictures) to achieve a good results. This is not the case. Jelly polishes are extremely sheer, but they are easy to manage if you want create a jelly sandwich using some glitters o some top coat you like. Guess what? Exactly, I don't like jelly sandiwiches too!
China Glaze Keepin' It Teal is a green turquoise jelly from Sunsetionail Collection (Summer 2013), more green IRL. I don't know why I've bought it, despite I was well-aware of his nature. It's a mistery.

Colore pieno, senza riflessi di qualsivoglia genere, un jelly assomiglia alla marmellata nei vasetti monoporzione (jelly, appunto), o ad una medusa spalmata sulle unghie (figo, né?). Sono molto lucidi, ma hanno lo svantaggio di dover necessitare di almeno 3 passate (quante ne vedete nelle mie foto) per avere una coprenza accettabile. Ok, non è questo il caso. I jelly possono essere combinati con i glitter per creare il cosiddetto jelly sandwich, ma indovinate un po? Esatto, a me non piace nemmeno quello!

Happy Wednesday, ladies. I must wipe out of my mind the fourth episode of Broadchurch. I think there's no need at all for a second season, and there's no need at all to make something if you don't have any idea about it. Sigh, I really loved the first season. Crap!!
This morning I have made this little nail art. There's the sea green, there's the teal, there's the blue and a not-so perfect fishnet pattern to wipe my blues away. Let's cast a net!

Credo, in tutta sincerità, che non vi fosse bisogno di una seconda stagione; e che in generale non ci sia bisogno di fare qualcosa se non si hanno idee degne di questo nome a riguardo. Uffa, mi era piaciuta così tanto la prima stagione! Speriamo si riprendano con la quinta puntata.
Stamattina ho realizzato questa piccola nail art. C'è il verde acqua, l'ottanio, il blu ed un disegno a rete non proprio perfetto, l'occorrente per spazzare via un po' di sconforto. Caliamo le reti!
I started painting my nail with two coats of Flormar 424 Bluish Green, a sea foam crème I got from my nail pal Piola. I love this little beauty, the formula is perfect and the brush flows over my nails. I recommend it as I recommend every Flormar.
After my base was dried, I applied some pieces of striping tape to create a fishnet pattern. Then, using a bath sponge, I dabbed over my nails Flormar 424 Bluish Green, wjcon Makeup Artist #05 Acquario and Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue.
I removed the tape and I added top coat.
Sadly, the striping tape let me down over my ring (I made a reverse gradient on it), but, alas, I like it anyway.
Ho cominciato stendendo due mani di Flormar 424 Bluish Green, un delizioso verde acqua che è entrato in mio possesso grazie alla mia amica di boccetta Piola. Adoro le lacche della Flormar: la formula è un sogno e il pennello scorre sull'unghia che è una meraviglia. E asciugano anche presto! Ve lo consiglio caldamente, così come consiglio i Flormar in generale.
Una volta asciutto, ho preso dei pezzi di striping tape e li ho disposti sulle unghie ricreando un disegno a rombi; ho poi steso su un pezzetto di spugna (una spugna da bagno) Flormar 424 Bluish Green, wjcon Makeup Artist #05 Acquario e Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue e ho picchiettato le mie unghie fino ad ottenere l'effetto desiderato (un paio di volte per unghia). Ho rimosso lo striping tape e ho steso il top coat.
Purtroppo, lo striping tape si è portato via un pezzetto della base sull'anulare, ma ho sistemato alla bell'è meglio il pastrocchio e va bene anche così. Non si nota poi molto dal vivo, le macro rendono enormi anche i difetti più invisibili ad occhio umano.

Come saprete, il secondo lunedì del mese è in programma una puntata di Sailing, la mia challenge in solitaria dedicata ai personaggi del manga di Eiichiro Oda, ONEPIECE. Oggi tocca al primo ufficiale della ciurma dei pirati di Cappello di Paglia, Roronoa Zoro.

Roronoa Zoro è un cacciatore di pirati ed è anche il primo ad unirsi alla ciurma di Rufy, dopo che questi lo salva dalla grinfie della marina (Morgan lo voleva far impiccare senza tanti complimenti..). Zoro è uno spadaccino. Si è addestrato fin da piccolo nell'arte della spada, giungendo a combattere impugnandone ben tre (la terza la stringe coi denti...). Il suo stile di combattimento classico si chiama Santōryū (Tecnica delle Tre Spade), ma sceglie di usarne due (Nitoryū) o oppure una sola (Ittoryū) quando affronta avversari più deboli di lui. Indossa quasi sempre una maglia bianca, dei pantaloni verde scuro ed un haramaki verde chiaro, dove infila le spade. Sfoggia anche tre orecchini d'oro al lobo sinistro, ed una bandana nera legata al braccio sinistro, che indossa solo quando fa sul serio.
Ha promesso alla sua amica d'infanzia Kuina, morta giovanissima (ed in modo davvero cretino), di diventare forte anche per lei.

Zoro's colour is green. Because Sanji calls him Marimo (Marimo is a round seaweed), I chose a teal as a base for this nail art. My goal was to made a tiger nail art (because Zoro is the most related to animals in the whole series because his techniques), but because my swatching hand is not available at the moment, I have to show you my Cinderella hand. I don't have either a tiger design plate, I must do something easier.
And I wanted to try this, the Smokey Marble technique.
I started with two coats of WjCon Makeup Artist Acquario. Then I poured some drops of KIKO Quick Dry Nail Lacquer # 813 Pearly Brown into a cup of room temperature filtered water, and using a brush dripped into pure acetone, I simply drew some spots. I dripped my nails (one-by-one and I add the top coat.
Ta-da!!
The Smokey Marble is a technique very close to Water Spotted, but I think I have much more control. I'll do it again in the future.

Il colore di Zoro è il verde, ma siccome Sanji lo chiama Marimo (un tipo di alga dalla forma rotonda), ho scelto di usare un verde acqua come base. Mi sarebbe piaciuto cavarmela con uno stamping tigrato (l'animalier ha sempre un suo perché e l'animale totem di Zoro è la tigre. Meown!), ma non avendo plate degne di questo nome, e non potendo fare affidamento sulla mano sinistra, ho deciso di provare una tecnica che mi intrigava già da un po'. Si tratta della Smokey Marble, una variante della Water Spotted che ho visto sul canale youtube della bravissima Marie.
Come funziona?
Si parte con uno smalto di base, nel mio caso due passate di WjCon Makeup Artist Acquario. Poi si versano alcune gocce di smalto dentro l'acqua (acqua filtrata o demineralizzata a temperatura ambiente!). Io ho scelto di usare KIKO Quick Dry Nail Lacquer # 813 Marrone Perlato. Poi si prende un pennello appena imbevuto nell'acetone e si disegnano alcuni punti sulla superficie dello smalto. Io ho creato delle linee, cercando di riprodurre il mantello della tigre. Ho immerso le dita una alla volta, ho rimosso lo scotch, ho pulito laddove ce n'era bisogno ed ho aggiunto il top coat.
Facile, vero?
Non è una tecnica complicata, ed è molto simile alla Water Spotted, ma trovo che sia a) più facile disegnare quello che vogliamo noi e b) non ha la controindicazione dell'eccesso di profumo. Credo proprio che ripeterò l'esperimento con gioia!
La couleur de Zoro est le vert, mais car Sanji l'appelle toujours "marimo" (il s'agit des algues verts de la façon d'une balle), j'ai choisi un bleu sarcelle. J'aurais voulu réaliser une manucure avec le dessin de la tigre (car l'animalier c'est toujours l'animalier et car Zoro est le plus relié aux animaux dans le manga), mais je n'ai pas de plateaux et je dois vous montrer ma main dominant, car j'ai une grosse casse sur l'ongle de mon index. J'ai pensé d'essayer une techinique appelée Smokey Marble, dont vous pourriez trouver un tutoriel sur la chaîne de Marie Nail Art.
J'ai utilisé deux couches de WjCon Makeup Artist Acquario. J'ai versé des gouttes de KIKO Quick Dry Nail Lacquer # 813 Pearly Brown dans de l'eau (eau déminéralisée à température ambiente) et avec un pinceau imbibé de acéton j'ai dessinée des lignes sur la surface de le vernis. J'ai plongée mes doigts, un par un, j'ai nettoyé ma peau (j'ai protégé mes doigts avec du scotch) et j'ai utilisé le top coat.
Voilà!
Il s'agit d'une technique très facile à faire et vraiment très joli. Elle me ressemble la Water Spotted, mais dans ce cas-ci c'est plus facile de tracer le motif que nous voulons et de ne respirer pas l’alcool ou bien trop parfum.

Because yesterday was my daddy's birthdays, I've spent the whole day searching for the perfect present for him. Today I'm tired and sleepy, and because it's raining cats and dogs (again), I just want slippering under my blanket and take a nap. Before I go, may I share with you a nail polish?
Ieri è stato il compleanno di mio padre ed ho passato l'intera giornata alla ricerca del perfetto regalo di compleanno. Mi fanno ancora male i piedi!! Oggi sono così svogliata e mezzo addormentata che se fosse per me scivolerei sotto le coperte senza tanti complimenti. Tanto fuori diluvia, e quasi quasi... Prima che io cada addormentata (ma senza foresta di rovi attorno), posso mostrarvi uno smaltino piccino picciò?
WjCon is a cheap italian brand in the same page of KIKO, but not at the same level. I'll be honest and I'll say I don't like it so much, because I think it hasn't a good price/quality ratio and the palette is poor. I prefer buying KIKO's nail polishes because if I want a crème, I have a crème, and not a crelly, as freqeuntly happens with WjCon.
Nevertheless, sometimes I found some products I like (yes, it sounds like a real surprise to me too). Makeup Artist collection is the 2014/15 fall/winter limited edition inspired by Modern Artists, like Pollocks and so on (they say that, not me!!). I purchased this little baby because its name and its colour. Acquario means Aquarius in italian, and I love teals. This is a crème very pigmenteted and a little bit dusty in the real life. As usual, my camera hates teals.
The formula is a little bit sticky, but it's self-levelling. I layered two coats, and no top coat at all.
Unfortunately, this little baby chipped the same day. I'm aware I've had a whole shopping day, yesterday, but it's not good that a nail polish (completely dried nail polish) chips at sight! You can't save your manicure if you'are wandering around the city, and it's an untikable idea buying remover pads, beacuse it stains. Of course it doaes, it's a teal, baby! I'm very disappointed. Despited I have a WjCon store near my house, I think I don't buy any single nail polish for long, long time...
It's a shame, because the shade is very lovely. Maybe next time I'll use a top coat.
WjCon è una marca economica che si inserisce nella stessa nicchia di KIKO, pur non essendo al suo livello. Secondo me, non vale i soldi che chiedono. Sì, anche se sono pochi. In primis, le formule non hanno vie di mezzo: o sono pastose oppure scappano da tutte le parti. Quelle che loro chiamano lacche sono tutte dei crelly, o quasi. Il range di colori è limitato. Insomma, se posso scegliere, KIKO tutta la vita!
Siccome curiosità è donna, e siccome ho un negozio vicino casa, ogni tanto sbircio. Perché comunque succede di restare piacevolmente colpite, no? Così, passando, ho notato questo colore, Acquario, della collezione Makeup Artist, ispirata - secondo loro - ai cpaolavori dell'altre moderna di Jackson Pollock. E ok. Questo colore mi ha colpito e siccome siamo sotto il segno dell'Aquario, ho pensato che cascasse a fagiolo. Un segno del destino, insomma!
Si tratta di una lacca molto pigmentata e lucida. La mia fotocamera odia i teal, sicché dategli un sottotono polvere che qui non potete vedere per ovvi motivi. La formula è densa - viscosa, dovrei dire - ma il bello è che è autolivellante. Quelle che vedete in foto sono due passate senza top coat.
Purtroppo, il signorino ha iniziato a sfaldarsi già dal primo giorno. Il mignolo è venuto via nella sua interezza. Capisco che passare una giornata intera per negozi non sia proprio una passeggiata di salute per lo smalto, ma non è neppure pensabile che si sfaldi come una cipolla! E non è neanche concepibile girare con le salviette rimuovismalto in borsa, ché questo signorino macchia senza appello. Sono rimasta veramente delusa. Sì, il colore è bello e il nome mi piace; ma uno smalto dovrebbe durare di suo senza il top coat! Il top coat è comunque un in più, non qualcosa di necessario. Peccato davvero. Sono sicura che userò ancora questo ragazzotto - i teal hanno dodicimila vite - ma mi secca l'idea di dover comunque stendere anche il top coat.
