Today for our weekly Holothon I've made a comparison between China Glaze OMG! and GOSH Holographic Hero. Nothing new under the sun, but I guess it could be useful for someone (or, at least, I hope so!).

Happy Monday!!
It's time to take a look at the starry sky above our heads! This month's constellation is the Cancer (that means crab in Latin), a medium-size constellation, but is the dimmest among Zodiac. Its stars are rather faint but it contains some solar sistems and the most famous open cluster of the nother Emisphere: Praesepe (M44), the manger, or the Beehive.
According to greek mythology, there was a gigantic crab Karkinos, that bit Hercules while he was fighting the many-headed Hydra. Hercules crushed it and the goddes Hera, who has sent Karkinos against Hercules place the crab among the stars.

Anche per questo mese è arrivato il momento di alzare la testa ed osservare un po' più da vicino le stelle. Oggi tocca alla Costellazione del Cancro, la meno visibile di tutto lo Zodiaco, ma la più ricca di corpi interessanti per gli astronomi, che vi hanno trovato alcuni sistemi solari (quello di Cancri 55 possiede un pianeta simile alla Terra) ed il più fmaoso ammasso stellare aperto di tutto l'emisfero settentrionale: Praesepe o l'Alveare (M 44).
Secondo la mitologia greca, hera invio un granchio gigantesco contro Ercole, intento a pestare di brutto brutto l'Idra di Lerna. Purtroppo per il granchio, Ercole lo fece a pezzi pestandolo ben bene, ma Hera volle ringraziare la creatura e lo pose tra le stelle.

Do you remember the fish-y nail art I've shown you last Wednesday? I made it with a stamping plate Born Pretty Store has sent to me, the BP#66, which is a four pattern plate. I'm also trying if my usual brands are good for stamping purposes, so I picked up a couple of KIKO's nail polishes. Because today it's 4th of July, I thought it could be a nice idea to use a navy blue shimmer and a deep red crème over a silver holo base.
Ricordate la nail art marina che vi ho mostrato mercoledì scorso? L'ho realizzata usando la matrice BP#66, che Born Petty Store mi ha inviato da testare. Oggi giocherello con un altro dei quattro disegni presenti. Siccome ho deciso di vedere come si comportano gli smalti di KIKO per lo stamping; e siccome oggi è il 4 di Luglio, ho scelto una lacca rosso scuro ed uno shimmer blu navy, su un fondo rigorosamente olografico.
I've used:

KIKO 225 Bordeaux Red (deep red crème);
KIKO 265 China Blue (blue shimmer);
KIKO Strong Nails as top coat;
Born Pretty Store BP#66;
Unfortunately, KIKO 225 and KIKO 265 are discontinued (I've bought them four years ago at least) but they have worked nicely. I used them both to create a sort of mixed pattern. The blue shimmer is three shades darker when used on its own, but it works better than is deep red collegue. This pattern too is well carved and I easily can stamp it over my nails. Because the base chips very fast, I sealed my nail art with the top coat. This dulled the holo effect, but nevermind. I like this pattern, I'm sure I shall use it again for others nail art. Remember that the BP#66 is still avalaible on the webstore, and its sales time! I've a coupon code to share with you: EBEX31. Make sure to use it for an additional 10% off discount.

KIKO 225 e KIKO 265 nonstante abbiano qualche annetto sulle spalle funzionano ancora benissimo! Ho usato entrambi per creare una sorta di disegno bicromatico. Il blu è uno shimmer moooolto più scuro se usato da solo, e funziona meglio del suo collega rosso.
Anche questo disegno è ben inciso ed ho potuto trasferirlo sulle mie unghiette con facilità! Il top coat si è reso necessario perché lo smalto olografico di base si sbecca solo a guardarlo; diminuirà l'effetto arcobaleno, ma poco male. Il disegno mi piace molto e credo proprio lo userò ancora.

I'm not american, and we do not celebrate 4th of July, but I've grown up watching soap operas and such, and I remember the barbecue hosted by Bauer family for every 4th of July (yup, I'm talking about Guiding Light!) and the fireworks shows. This Saturday starting summer sales and I'm so willing to boost my closet (bags and shoes in the first place).
Non sono americana, né qui si festeggia il 4 Luglio, ma essendo cresciuta guardando i teleromanzi ricordo bene le grigliate a casa Bauer per la festa dell'Indipendenza (sì, sto parlando di Sentieri!) e i successivi fuochi d'artificio. Oggi partono i saldi estivi, e prevedo proprio che anche il mio portafogli farà i fuochi d'artificio (borse, scarpe, accessori per la piscina e qualche altra cosuccia...)!

Spero con tutto il cuore che la canicola ci dia un po' di requie! I centri commerciali oggi saranno un inferno che quasi non si riesce a camminare, ma almeno avrò l'aria condizionata! O alle brutte, un ghiacciolo per combattere il caldo!

My never-ending story with silver holos is still on the table. One of my strongest lemming is GOSH Holographic, since 2010 when I saw this photo at Lacquerized. It was an instant crush and I badly wanted it but it wasn't easy find Gosh Cosmetics here in Italy and it was not possible to find Holographic in italian stores (Heavens knows why!). I was not willing to spend too much for a single bottle of discontinued nail polish, so I screamed out loud when I discovered that GOSH have re-released Holographic a couple of years ago.

GOSH Holographic è stato un colpo di fulmine sin da quando ne vidi una sola, singola foto sul blog di Michèle, Lacquerized (2010). purtroppo, la Gosh non è una marca che si trova facilmente in Italia e quei pochi negozi non hanno MAI Holographic (sa il Cielo perché!). Oggi si parla degli smalti cromati, la mia croce e la mia delizia. Cos'è un cromato? Si tratta di uno smalto metallico che asciuga al volo - o quasi - dalla finitura quasi a specchio. Non stupitevi se qualcuno li chiama anche "mirror". Indovinate un po'? Esatto. Io li adoro!

Gosh Metallic Blue is a light blue chrome I purchased in London some years ago (it was on 2010). As you can see, the shade is very close to steel blue. You'll need only one coat of nail polish to admire this beautiful mirror shining. You'll need a proper base, like Nfu Oh Aqua Base to achieve a right performance. Sadly, chromes aren't easy to apply.
Most of chrome are perfect for stamping. I didn't used this lovely baby to stamping, because I don't have any nice plate yet. I'll use it for stamping purpose very, very soon, I swear!
GOSH is a danish brand. If you don't find it at your local beauty supply, I suggest you two ways to grab into your lovely hands. First of all: check at your favorite e-commerce store. I suggest you an european e-commerce one. Or, if you have a close friend (or a sister, or a sister in law, or your auntie, or your mama, or whatever you have) heading for UK, Belgium o Danemark, you can ask to her to purchase it for you. I purchased this bottle in a special offer at Superdrugs on London (3 polishes at 5£) but rumors say that you could find GOSH even in Germany, despite I don't have found it in Berlin.
GOSH Metallic Blue è un chrome azzurro acciaio. A dire la verità ve l'ho già mostrato sull'altro blog, e non avendo tempo di inventarmi qualcosa - vedete a che ora mi riduco a postare, sì? - ho preferito riciclare delle vecchie foto. Quella che vedete è una passata sola, stesa sull'Aqua Base di Nfu Oh (gran bella cosa gli archivi!). È assolutamente meraviglioso. Lo amo. Purtroppo, non è sempre facile stendere un chrome, e se le vostre unghie anno dei difetti (striature e simili) preparatevi a vederle apparire. Molti chrome sono azzaccatissimi da usare per lo stamping, ma non avendo io una plate seria - una plate degna di questo nome - non so dirvi come si comporta questo cucciolo. Prometto di rimediare al più presto!
GOSH è una marca danese che troviamo in Italia presso le profumerie Marionnaud. A causa dell'elevato prezzo cui si trova in vendita chez nous, ho pochissimi esemplari di questa marca, tutti reperiti durante vari viaggetti a Londra. Se li cercate - o trovate un buon sito di e-commerce europeo oppure, se avete qualcuno (una mamma, una sorella, una zia, una cognata, un'amica, quello che vi pare!) in partenza per Londra, chiedetele di buttare un occhio da Superdrugs, ché spesso ci sono offerte speciali (3 smalti a 5£, tipo). Non rimarrete deluse.
As I said, I love chromes. I usually wear them on their own because I really adore the metallic effect over my nails.
