Siccome secondo il meteo oggi dovrebbe essere la giornata più calda di Luglio, ho deciso di condividere uno stamping fresco e delicato che ho realizzato un paio di settimane fa (ricordate il mio post sul Pupa Holographic, vero?) con la matrice BP#66 di Born Pretty Store.

It's nice having a bank holiday on Monday! Because today is Rome's patron saint's festival, I would like to share with you a lovely nail polish I've bought last month. I've discovered claire's shop here in Rome (inside a mall out-of-town), so I cannot stop myself to buying something. A girl has her own bare necessities!

Che bellezza quando la festa del santo patrono cade di lunedì! Acquista un sapore del tutto speciale, non credete? Oggi vi mostro uno smalto che ho preso il mese scorso, quando in maniera del tutto casuale ho scoperto un negozio claire's all'interno di un centro commerciale in braccio alle stelle. Quando mi sarebbe ricapitato?

Claire's Rome (yes, I've bought it because its name!!) is a green polish with a pale silver shimmer, barely visible in photos (my bad!). It's a nice polish, with a good formula, that dries in a reasonable time but it chips very fast. Do not forget the top coat!
I was unsure about the finish, 'cause it seems to me like a frost, or, at least, this is what we have had if a shimmer and a frost would make a baby. Obviously, you will have brushstrokes. I would try this baby for stamping purposes, maybe it could be a nice discovery!

Claire's Rome (sì, l'ho comprato per il suo nome!!) è uno smalto verde con uno shimmer argento chiaro, appena visibile in foto. In realtà, questo è quello che avremmo qualora uno shimmer ed un frost decidessero di avere un bimbo, un qualcosa che si pone quasi a metà tra i due.
È uno smalto senza pecche, con una buona formula ed una discreta scorrevolezza. I segni del pennello sono assicurati. Asciuga in tempi ragionevoli, ma si sbecca fin troppo in fretta, sicché non dimenticate il top coat!

Here in Rome there's a traditional fireworks show on Saint Peter and Paul's evening, alongside Saint Paul basilica, but romans are used to make a picnic in the country or spend the day with friends. I don't know what we'll do today, because a bank holiday in Monday means tons of traffic for the come back, but we could come to see fireworks, maybe. Or maybe not. Who knows? I love living holidays freewheel!

Qui è tradizione spendere il 29 Giugno facendo piccole gite oppure stando assieme agli amici. È tradizione che ci sia uno spettacolo di fuochi d'artificio nei giardini adiacenti alla Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura. Io non so cosa faremo, visto che un ponte significa file chilometriche al casello per il rientro, o se vedremo o meno i fuochi d'artificio; il bello delle vacanze è proprio viverle senza programmi fissi!

I know, I'm late, but would you please consider this post like a free ride hangin' on the bumper, just like Marty McFly does on "Back to the Future", but more classy and girly, of course!
Today we're about to take a closer look to toppers, those top coats you have to put over you regular polish to achieve particular effects. You could easily find some of these topper nowadays, and if I'm correct, essence released four or five topper just this spring. Check them out! essence METAL glam gold topper #01 Steel-ing the scene is a top coat with golden flakes. The flakes have different sizes, so you could easily use them like mosaic's tiles. I prefer follow a gradually pace, to avoid a monstrous and sticky blob over my nails. A never-ending work in progress.
To show properly this topper, I put it over a vertical gradient I made with Sinful Colors Innocent (fresh green crème) and Revlon Colorstay #230 Bonsai (green base with golden shimmer). I've add a couople of layers of essence METAL blah blah.

essence METAL glam gold topper #01 Steel-ing the scene è un top coat trasparente con delle scaglie di foglia d'oro in sospensione. Le scaglie hanno dimensioni differenti e sono luminosissime, ma se posso darvi un consiglio, è meglio andarci caute con le passate, o rischiate di ritorvarvi con un mostro smappazzoide sulle unghie.
Per mostrarvi meglio questo topper, ho deciso di piazzarlo sopra ad una gradient verticale (non proprio riuscitissima, ma vabbé), che ho realizzato con Sinful Colors Innocent e Revlon Colorstay #230 Bonsai.

I should be honest, and say to you that I don't like buying toppers, because I KNOW that I'll use them a couple of times and no more. I purchased this one beacause it's very particular and I do not have anything like.

How do you use them? To give a particular sparkle to an ordinary colour or do you like brighten your black nail polish up?

Ad essere onestissima, cerco di evitare l'acquisto dei topper, che alla fine si usano una volta, due al massimo, e poi finiscono in fondo al cassetto. Ho preso questo qui perché non avevo davvero nulla di simile - ed io e la foglia d'oro siamo, come dire?, in antitesi totale.
Sono sicurissima che avrete un paio di topper nella vostra collezione. Come li usate, di solito? Per dare brio ad uno smalto magari un po' meh, oppure per ravvivare un classico nero?

A shimmer is basically a glisten inside the formula of your nail polish. It's one of the most common finishes you could find on shops, very shiny and very classy, like an hidden treasure on your nails.
Buon Venerdì! Oggi torniamo a giocherellare con la Finishpedia, quindi partiamo! Si parla di shimmer, ossia di quegli smalti che hanno un luccichio all'interno della formula stessa. Si tratta di uno dei finish più comuni che si trovano in commercio, molto discreto ed elegante, un po' come un piccolo tesoro nascosto. O una scintilla segreta.
Misa Quirky Smile is a teal shimmer I purchased two years ago during Roma Aestetica, something like a very small Cosmoprof we have here in Rome between the end of January and early days of February. I didn't tried it since few minutes ago. Shame. On. Me. It's a glorious and gorgeous dark teal shade, with a little duochrome effect (between indigo and teal) and a silver shimmer. Lovely!
I'm afraid this little beauty will stain my cuticles, so I must remind myself to use a LOT of vaseline (or jojoba oil) around my cuticles BEFORE the remover step.

Misa Quirky Smile è uno shimmer ottanio che ho preso ad un Roma Aestetica di un paio di anni fa. Si tratta di una manifestazione del settore simile ad un Cosmoprof piccino picciò che si tiene tra la fine di Gennaio e gli inizi di Febbraio. Indovinate? Esatto, l'ho provato per queste foto. E mi mangio le mani!! È un glorioso punto ottanio scuro che vira verso l'indaco il viola con un bellissimo e discreto shimmer argento. FiQuissimo!!

Il narciso - bianco - è uno dei miei fiori preferiti (l'altro è la rosa, bianca, mi raccomando!) e non potevo saltare quest'appuntamento della Birth Flowers. Ho realizzato una water marble semplice e d'effetto, ma ho potuto scattare le foto solo oggi, dopo tre giorni e qualche magagna in più.

I started with two coats of Shaka Matt White as a base. Then I poured one drop of each nail polishes I mentioned above, I drew a flower and I've dived one finger at time.
I added one coat of essence gel-look top coat.
Sadly, my water marble has started to chipping since the very next day I made it. It's a shame, don't you agree?

I chose to replicate the sea over my nails. I love the sea in every season, but during winter time the sea gains a magic allure. It's the best place to spend some times on your own, thinking, plotting new ideas, feeling new sensations and waiting for the good season. And enjoying the sand and the water before the summer's crowd.
I just mixed up two tutorials, one of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and one of Janelle from elleandish (You could found them here and here).
I used two coat of Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù (a light blue crème) as base. Then I layered Orly Night Owl (a taupe brown with a golden shimmer), Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù and Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue (a blue crème) over a piece of bath sponge and I sponged them over my nails. Then, in a small cup of room temperature filtered water, I dipping two drops of China Glaze White Out and China Glaze Rainbow. I sprayed a little bit of alcohol and I dived my fingers.
I used a mat top coat from Basic Beauty, an italian brand now called BB.
I just mixed up two tutorials, one of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and one of Janelle from elleandish (You could found them here and here).

I used a mat top coat from Basic Beauty, an italian brand now called BB.

Io amo il mare in ogni stagione, specie d'inverno, quando lo si può godere in riflessiva solitudine, senza la baraonda ed il caos che lo assedia d'estate.
Ho preso ispirazione dai tutorial di Sarah di Chalckboard Nails e quello di Janelle di elleandish (li trovate qui e qui).
Sono partita con due mani di Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù (una lacca celeste chiarissimo). Quindi ho steso Orly Night Owl (un tortora con shimmer dorato), Pupa Lasting Color Gel Malibù e Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue su un pezzetto di una spugna da bagno e ho tamponato le mie unghie. Quindi ho versato un paio di gocce di China Glaze White Out e China Glaze Rainbow in un po' d'acqua filtrata a temperatura ambiente, ho spruzzato un po' di alcol (quello rosa, per intenderci) ed ho immerso le dita.
Ho sigillato la nail art con un velo di top coat mat di Basic Beauty, quella che adesso si chiama BB.

I used a mat top coat because it gives a much more real effect to your nails. Sea tides are not shiny, but mat.

Il top coat mat regala un effetto più realistico all'insieme. Le onde e la schiuma marina sono opache, non lucide.

Today I want to reveal the second surprise I've thought for this year (the first one is ZODIAKOS, by the way). I have had the idea of a ONEPIECE inspired nail art serie. I called it "Sailing", after the lovely Christopher Cross's song, and because they characters are pirates. And what a pirate usually does - when she doesn't raid another ships?
Sailing. What else?
I'm a big fan of ONEPIECE since 2002, when I saw the first anime episodes, and few days after my husband and I bought all the mangas already published. It's an ongoing series, since 1997, (the pilot was published on my birthday!) so this year will be the 18th anniversary of manga and 16th for anime. GOSH!
I thought it could be nice make every month a nail art inspired by the crew's members, starting by the captain, Monkey D. Rufy.
