Leo is one of the earliest recogniezed constellation. It's lying between Cancer and Virgo and according to Greek Mythology it reminds the Nemean Lion killed by Hercules as the first of his twelve labors. Leo contains many bright stars, many of which were individually identified by the ancients, as Regulus, Denebola and Algieba, and also many bright galaxies: Messier 65, Messier 66, Messier 95 and so on.
People born under the Leo sign are proud, lavish, passionate and trusted; but they are also egocentric, selfish, quick-tempered and hot-blooded. Leos are natural born kings. Which colour suits them better than gold?

It's time to take a look at the starry sky above our heads! This month's constellation is the Cancer (that means crab in Latin), a medium-size constellation, but is the dimmest among Zodiac. Its stars are rather faint but it contains some solar sistems and the most famous open cluster of the nother Emisphere: Praesepe (M44), the manger, or the Beehive.
According to greek mythology, there was a gigantic crab Karkinos, that bit Hercules while he was fighting the many-headed Hydra. Hercules crushed it and the goddes Hera, who has sent Karkinos against Hercules place the crab among the stars.

Anche per questo mese è arrivato il momento di alzare la testa ed osservare un po' più da vicino le stelle. Oggi tocca alla Costellazione del Cancro, la meno visibile di tutto lo Zodiaco, ma la più ricca di corpi interessanti per gli astronomi, che vi hanno trovato alcuni sistemi solari (quello di Cancri 55 possiede un pianeta simile alla Terra) ed il più fmaoso ammasso stellare aperto di tutto l'emisfero settentrionale: Praesepe o l'Alveare (M 44).
Secondo la mitologia greca, hera invio un granchio gigantesco contro Ercole, intento a pestare di brutto brutto l'Idra di Lerna. Purtroppo per il granchio, Ercole lo fece a pezzi pestandolo ben bene, ma Hera volle ringraziare la creatura e lo pose tra le stelle.

Gemini constellation is a large rectangle between Taurus and Cancer, and it symbolize the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, the two sons of Zeus. According to greek mythology, in the same day Sparta's queen Leda slept with Zeus (in the guise of a swan) and his husband Thyndareus. Leda gave birth four children: Pollux and Elena were son of Zeus, whereas Castor and Clytemnestra were son of Thyndareus (mortals). Castor and Pollux were very close friends and when Castor died, Pollux begged his father Zeus to share immortality with his brother. Zeus placed the two brothers in the sky, creating Gemini constellation.
Gemini people are very clever and funny. They are the most inquiring personalities of the Zodiac, but because they change opinion very fast, they would look like a two-faced person. Their lucky colour is yellow and because they seem like a whirpool, I depicted them using a vortex shape.

La costellazione dei Gemelli è un rettangolo ciccione che si trova tra il Toro ed il Cancro. Rappresenta la coppia dei Dioscuri, Castore e Polluce, figli di Zeus e Leda, regina di Sparta. Stando alla maggioranza dei mitografi, Leda ebbe un rapporto con Zeus (travestito da cigno) e con suo marito Tindaro nello stesso giorno. Ne nacquero quattro figli: Polluce ed Elena (quella di Troia) da Zeus, Castore e Clitemnestra da Tindaro. I due fratelli erano legatissimi e quando Castore morì, Polluce prego il padre di poter condividere l'immortalità con suo fratello. Ecco come nacque la costellazione dei Gemelli.
I Gemelli sono dei personaggi. Intelligentissimi, curiosi, e divertenti, sono persone alla mano che vivono la vita con leggerezza. Data la loro natura doppia, possono essere ipocriti ed ambigui. Il loro colore fortunato è il giallo, e siccome un Gemelli assomiglia ad un vortice ambulante, ho scelto questa forma e ho realizzato una water marble ad hoc.

First of all, I started using the new essence the gel. I followed the instruction carefully and you could read my opinions about this new system very soon. The colour at the base of this water marble is essence the gel #39 blue bubble di blue, a light blue crème. I poured a few drops of #39 blue bubble di blue, China Glaze White on White and essence the gel #28 hello sunshine, a yellow satin. I've created a bull's eye for every nail and I finshed my nail art adding a thin layer of top coat.
Premessa: ho avuto modo di provare il nuovo sistema essence the gel e a breve avrete la mia opinione al riguardo. Ho scelto di usare come base proprio essence the gel #39 blue bubble di blue, una lacca celeste. Ho versato in un bicchiere d'acqua alcune gocce di blue bubble di blue, China Glaze White on White e essence the gel #28 hello sunshine, che, a dispetto dello strillo THE MATT sul cappuccio, è un satin giallo. Ho creato un bersaglio per ogni unghia ed ho terminato con un velo di top coat.
The yellow satin turned into a peasoup green (I don't like this shade so much), but these polishes spread very nicely into the water and I like this wm. Try them, they are a cheaper option!
To do a water marble do you prefere using regular polishes or a cheaper version?
Personally, I don't use high-level brands or nail polishes hard to find (exception to the rule here), I just use brand that works with this technique among my regular polishes.

Hello sunshine s'è mischiato con il celeste, ed ha dato vita ad un verde zuppa di piselli che mi convince poco, ma il risultato, nel suo complesso, mi piace molto. Questi smalti si spandono che è una bellezza in acqua, un'alternativa davvero economica!
Quali smalti usate per le vostre water marble? Versioni più economiche, oppure va bene qualsiasi boccetta, basta che si apra?

This constellation lies between Aries and Gemini. with two open clusters: Iades ("The Triangle") and Pleiades (aka "The Seven Sisters"). This constellation is very old because the Bull is one of the oldest and fascinatin image (do you remeber Lascaux graffitis?) since Mesopotamia culture. The Mesopotamian epic poem Gilgamesh tell us that goddess Inanna send the Heaven Taurus against Gilgamesh to kill him (and Gilgamesh himself should be Orion, the Hunter). According to greek mythology, Zeus abduced phoenician princess Europa beyond the Dardanelles disguised like a bull. There's also the story of Io, one of Zeus love affairs, changed into a heifer by Hera, jealous Zeus' wife. Or the Bull could reminds us the Cretean Bull, one of Hercules's Twelve Labors.

So I started with two coats of KIKO 338 Light Lavender. Then I took NYC In a Minute #034 Giallo and with a medium dotting tool I made the center of the daisies. With NYC Expert Last Nail Polish 134 Pinestripe White I drew the petals. I didn't use top coat.

This nail art reminds me when I was a schoolgirl and during the launch break I played"He loves me - He loves me not" with my friends in the school backyard (I'm sorry for the gazillion of flowers we have destroyed... We was just romantic girls!), laughing when the daisy foresee to us that he loves us, and crying out loud when he doesn't, even though we do not have any boyfriend!

Mentre realizzavo questa nail art mi sono ricordata di quando andavo alle elementari e durante l'intervallo io e le mie amiche sfogliavamo le margherite. "M'ama, non m'ama, m'ama, non m'ama...". Ridevamo come matte se l'esito era positivo e ci disperavamo se, invece, era negativo... e il bello è che non c'era nessun ragazzino che ci piacesse (forse)! A questo proposito, chiedo umilmente scusa per l'ecatombe di margherite che abbiamo - ehm - causato all'epoca...

Aries people are often optimistic person (if you do what tehy say, of course), assertive kind and they have a pretty clear idea about what to do or not to do. It's strange meet an hesitant Aries (they are Fire Cardinal, after all). They are precious friends, if you're a patient people (I'm not). They are amazing promoters (of someone else life), but, sometimes, they can't slow down and change their path, and they end with a CRASH!! But, don't worry about them: their horns will protect them, 'cause are Aries, after all.

I started with two coats of deBBY gel play #36 (a nude crème), one the new debby's palette for the spring/summer 2015. I used two coats. It's glossy and the brush is HUGE. It's not easy to manage, but I think I need some practice.
Then I applied Melissa D195, a lace pattern water decals set. I thought they was too hard to use ('cause I'm clumsy!), but they are not. I fixed mymanicure with a single coat of Deborah Mat Effect Top Coat, but it made some mess. Never mind. This pattern reminds me something like a creased petticoat waiting on the floor while you do you know what...
Uhm. Maybe Aries borns are not the only naughtiest here...

Ho sigillato la manicure con un velo di Deborah Mat Effect Top Coat, ma s'è sciolto un po' il disegno. Fa niente. Non ricorda anche a voi il pizzo stropicciato di una sottoveste sul pavimento, mentre accade voi sapete cosa?

Come ogni primo lunedì del mese, eccoci arrivati ad un altro appuntamento con Zōdiakos. Oggi ce ne andiamo tra le stelle ad osservare l'ultimo e forse il più romantico dei segni zodiacali, i Pesci.

I chose to replicate the sea over my nails. I love the sea in every season, but during winter time the sea gains a magic allure. It's the best place to spend some times on your own, thinking, plotting new ideas, feeling new sensations and waiting for the good season. And enjoying the sand and the water before the summer's crowd.
I just mixed up two tutorials, one of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and one of Janelle from elleandish (You could found them here and here).
I used two coat of Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù (a light blue crème) as base. Then I layered Orly Night Owl (a taupe brown with a golden shimmer), Pupa Lasting Color Gel 078 Malibù and Bella Oggi gel effect #12 Plastic Blue (a blue crème) over a piece of bath sponge and I sponged them over my nails. Then, in a small cup of room temperature filtered water, I dipping two drops of China Glaze White Out and China Glaze Rainbow. I sprayed a little bit of alcohol and I dived my fingers.
I used a mat top coat from Basic Beauty, an italian brand now called BB.

Ho scelto di riprodurre il mare sulle mie unghiette. Idea banalotta, lo so, ma morivo dalla voglia di avere uno scampolo d'acqua e sabbia sulle dita. Io amo il mare in ogni stagione, specie d'inverno, quando lo si può godere in riflessiva solitudine, senza la baraonda ed il caos che lo assedia d'estate.

I used a mat top coat because it gives a much more real effect to your nails. Sea tides are not shiny, but mat.

Il top coat mat regala un effetto più realistico all'insieme. Le onde e la schiuma marina sono opache, non lucide.

Today is the first Monday of February and it's time to share with you the second nail art of Zōdiakos inspired by the versatile Sign of Aquarius.
Aquarius is is one of the oldest of the recognized constellations along the zodiac and his constellation lies between Capriconus and Pisces. It's identified with Ganymede, the young son of Trojan king Tros, who was taken to Mount Olympus by Zeus to act as cup-carrier to the gods.
Aquarius is the Air's(element) Fixed (quality). A Fixed Sign lies in the middle of a season and has stabilization, determination, depth and persistence. She's powerful and often achieve much more that other Quality, but she's often inflexible, rigid, stubborn.
Aquarius people are cool, logical, innovator, unselfish, quirky, unconventional and idealist. They are not the perfect lovers, maybe, but they're the perfect friends you could ever conceive. I love Aquarius people. My dad is an Aquarius, a perfect living paradigm even if he doesn't like astrology and horoscopes. Funny, it isn't?
For this nail art I made a random sponging galaxy.
I started with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails base coat and then I painted my nails with China Glaze Snow (2 coats). I cutted a bath sponge in pieces and I randomly dabbed these colours:
Sinful Colors Boom Boom (magenta red), Sinful Colors Hazard (orange peach), Sinful Colors Let's Meet (yellow shimmer), Sinful Colors Innocent (green apple shimmer), Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing (pale blue crème), Revlon COLORSTAY 180 Indigo Night (indigo crème) and Deborah 7Days Long 852 (grape crème). Then I used a layer of ILNP My Private Rainbow (L) (linear holografic top coat) and with a dotting tool and China Glaze White On White (sheer white) I painted some dots, pretending they are be stars. I sealed my nail art with essence nail art sealing top coat.

La Costellazione dell'Aquario si trova tra il Capricorno ed i Pesci. L'Aquario (no, non è un errore. Parlando della Costellazione, la c va in pensione) è il Fisso d'Aria. Un Segno Fisso si trova al centro della stagione ed ha come qualità peculiare un'incrollabile volontà, stabilità e fermezza interiore. Spesso riesce ad ottenere quello che vuole, ma il rovescio della medaglia è dato dal possedere un carattere che spesso sfocia nell'eccessiva rigidità. Un Aquario è pieno di ottime qualità: razionali, innovatori, razionali, altruisti, idealisti.
Magari non saranno gli amanti ideali, ma sono di sicuro i migliori amici che si possa desiderare.
Mio padre è un Aquario (un paradigma vivente di come dovrebbe essere un Aquario, per giunta!), ma lui non ama zodiaco ed oroscopi. Anzi, non ci crede proprio! Strana la vita, vero?

Una volta sciutto ho preso una spugna da bagno, ne ho ricavato alcuni pezzi ed ho tamponato i seguenti colori: Sinful Colors Boom Boom (rosso), Sinful Colors Hazard (arancio), Sinful Colors Let's Meet (giallo shimmer), Sinful Colors Innocent (verde mela shimmer), Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing (celeste crème), Revlon COLORSTAY 180 Indigo Night (crème indaco), Deborah 7Days Long 852 (viola uva). Ho steso una mano di ILNP My Private Rainbow (L) (un top coat olografico) e con un dotter e China Glaze White On White (bianco sheer) ho dipinto dei punti. Dovrebbero essere delle stelle. Voi chiudete un occhio, vero?
Ho sigillato tutto con essence nail art sealing top coat, che stavolta ha fatto il bravo e non ha sbavato ovunque.

I've been interested about zodiac and horoscopes since my childhood. I believe that inside of us there's a sparkle - if it's divine of if it comes from the stars doesn't matter now - and I think that stars does not determinate our lives, but give us a little ray of light to see where we put our steps.
I also love constellations and stars, and if I wasn't a dunce in maths I think I would have chosen Astrophysics.
Anyway.
Last November I'd though it would be a nice idea having a personal annual challenge in 2015. Something very close to my tastes, something very... me. For the next twelve months, on every first Monday, I'll show you a nail art themed upon Zodiac Signs. January is the month of Capricorn, the earth's cardinal. A cardinal sign it's a sign that "opens" a new season. The switch from a season to another one is also the moment which starts a cardinal sign.
