Better late than never, today I'll show you one (of the many) nail polishes my hubby gives to me as birthday present. You know, I like discover new indie brands and I love Norse Mythology too. So, when last years I stubled upon The Nine Realm collection, I instantly had a HUGE crush for CrowsToes. The nail polish I'm going to show you is called Vanaheim (it means "Realm of Vani", one of the two kind of gods in Norse Mythology, the local ones) and it's an extraordinary multichrome that shifts from green Péridot to copper and also teal, WITH constrasting glitters wich go from copper to teal and to gold.
I've used two coats over my base coat and the top coat to smooth the surface (glitter give an unpleseant ruggedness).

Per la serie meglio tardi che mai, oggi vi mostro un dei tanti smalti che il consorte mi ha regalato per il mio compleanno. Saprete sicuramente quanto mi piaccia conoscere nuove marche indie, ma forse non saprete che adoro la mitologia norrena. Non vi stupirà immaginare quanti secondi io ci abbia impiegato per innamorarmi alla follia della collezione The Nine Realms di CrowsToe. Lo smalto che vi mostro oggi si chiama Vanaheim (letteralmente, Regno dei Vani, uno dei due ceppi di divinità della mitologia norrena, quello autoctono e legato alla terra) ed è uno straordinario duochrome che passa dal verde peridoto al ruggine e al teal. Come se non bastasse, c'è anche un'infusione di glitter multicolor che fa il percforso inverso: rame, teal e oro. Uno spettacolo, insomma!
Qui vedete due passate sopra la mia classica base, e un filo di top coat per rendere liscia ed omogenea la superficie dell'unghia.

That thing's happened.
Yesterday I've gone to my hairdresser to shorten my hair (I've a huge and massive multitude of fine hair , FIY) and to fix my color. The color went palest than usual («It's summer, afterall!», she tweeted) and my layered hairdo is not what I's looking for. Today I'm pretty pissed off, 'cause I have a huge dry twig instead my hair. Let's talking about nail polish, 'cause I need to cheer up my mood.

È successa quella cosa.
Ieri sono andata dal parrucchiere per accorciare i capelli (ho una marea di capelli finissimi) e sistemare il colore. Il colore è uscito fuori più chiaro del solito («È estate, dopotutto!», ha trillato lei) e il mio taglio iperscalato va benissimo per Asgard e non per l'umidissima Roma. Sono nera. Ho una palla di sterpi al posto dei capelli. Meglio parlare di smalti luccicanti per risollevare un morale ai minimi storici.

Thanks Heavens, April is about to end. It's been a pretty hard month, so I'm SO happy it's almost over.
Because it's raining (again!) I cannot take any good pictures, so I opened up my vault and I found these. Brace yourself, because I'm about to share with you one of my best loved nail polish ever: ILNP Masquerade.

Non sapete quanto io sia felice che Aprile stia per finire! È stato un mese davvero tosto, e prima me lo lascerò alle spalle, meglio sarà.
Siccome piove (ancora) e c'è una luce schifosa, non è il caso di mettersi a fotografare nulla, così vi rifilo dei vecchi scatti. Armatevi di santa pazienza, ché vi sto per mostrare una delle mie scuffie più pesanti di sempre: ILNP Masquerade.

Actually, I do not have too much to say about ILNP Masquerade, because, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. BUT, because Barbra has done a very good work making this little boy, I must spend a couple of words.
Masquerade is a Multi-Chrome. Yup, Multi-Chrome, because you could see at least five shades. Five, my ladies: red, brown, gold, purple and green. BUT, if you take a look at this baby underwater you should see teal and blue too!

C'è ben poco da dire su ILNP Masquerade. Le foto dovrebbero parlare da sole, giusto (vale più un immagine, ecc. ecc.). Ma poiché Barbra ha fatto un lavoro coi controfiocchi, non posso non lodare ad alta voce questa meraviglia. Mettetevi comomode.
Masquerade è un duochrome (Multi-Chrome, prego) che spazia dal rosso al teal, compresi tutti i colori nell'intervallo (marrone, oro, verde, viola). C'è anche il teal, ma per fotografarlo al meglio è necessario allegare un paio di scatti subacquei («Zubbaqqui!»).

Happy Tuesday! How are you? This afternoon we have a lovely sun shining into a deep blue sky. Today is the 2768th anniversary of Rome and I would share with you my first stamping attempt.

2768 ab Urbe Condita. I festeggiamenti in città prevedono una Notte Bianca lungo i Fori. La salterò, ché a me la folla non piace proprio, ma non potevo esimermi dal mostrarvi il mio primo (riuscito) tentativo di stamping.

I used ILNP Neon Rosebud as a base, because Roma's shade are gold and red. Gold for the Tiber's golden waters, and red was the colour of emperors in ancient Rome. Neon Rosebud was the right choice.

My husband gave me some MoYou London plates as Easter present. I've chosen to start with MoYou Pro XL 07 and using essenc stamp me!  white as stamping polish.

I'm amazed by this gorgeous result!

Mi serviva qualcosa di rosso e dorato, i colori di Roma - il colore degli imperatori e del potere in generale il primo, e quello del biondo Tevere il secondo. ILNP Neon Rosebud era la scelta giusta!

Per Pasqua mio marito mi ha regalato alcune matrici di MoYou London, così ho deciso di provare la Pro 07, usando essence stamp me! white.
Che vi devo dire?
Sono stupefatta io stessa!!

I know I have to make some practice, but it was SO easy and SO neat. Like shooting to a sitting duck. I love the plates, I love the stamper (I picked the rectangular one). They made my stamping life effortless, and even a simple crème works very well.
Brace yourself, ladies and gentelmen. My stamping life is just started!!

C'è ancora un bel po' di pratica da fare, ma è stato tutto così facile e così pulito da commuovermi, quasi. Adoro le matrici, adoro il tampone (ho preso quello rettangolare), rendono la vita una passeggiata. Persino le semplici lacche funzionano che è una meraviglia! E adesso che ho preso il via... affari vostri!!

Rome is my city. A piece of my soul. I think I could live everywhere with the people I love, BUT I'll miss my city. Here is where I was born, here is where I live, here is where my roots are. And this silly stamping manicure is how I want to show my love for Rome.

It's a sunny and warm Saturday here in Rome, and we've enjoyed a nice shopping afternoon without crowd. It was quite a miracle! 

This week we're about to share with you these nail polishes which have small iridescente/opal/duochrome chips floating into a transparent or veeeeeery sheer base: flakies. 

Buon Sabato a tutti!
Oggi è stata una piacevolissima e tiepida giornata di sole qui a Roma, e ci siamo goduti un bel pomeriggio di shopping. Senza folla. I miracoli avvengono, ogni tanto.

Oggi si parla di flakies, ossia quegli smalti con delle adorabili scagliette duochrome a galleggiare su base trasparente o mooooolto chiara.

ILNP Neon Rosebud is a gorgeous flakie with multichrome chips (fuchsia, gold, green, orange) that lovely Barbra created for nail polish addicted (raise her hand). It's one the fabulous 13 nail polishes of Ultra Chrome Flakies Collection. You can see it over two coats of Flormar M12 Dry Ocean (dark navy satin) on my right hand, and three coats over my left hand.

I just can't stop staring at my nails!

ILNP Neon Rosebud è uno dei 13 smalti della Ultra Chrome Flakies Collection  che Barbra ha lanciato quest'anno. Un oceano di scagliette multicolore che spaziano dal fuchsia al verde passando per l'oro e l'arancio. Uno spettacolo! Qui lo vedete su due mani di Flormar M12 Dry Ocean (satin blu navy scuro) sulla destra. Da solo (mano sinistra) occorrono dalle tre alle quattro passate.

Gli ho scattato una marea di foto, ma era comprensibile: non riuscivo a smettere di girare le dita!!

I like flakies, but I think they are not unecessary. You just need a couple of them (maybe something with a good range of shades) and you're fine.

Stop! Non stiamo parlando di quegli Suède, vero?

Of course we don't! But today we are talking about the beautiful ones among nail polish finishes: Suède!
A suède nail polish is, basically, a mattified shimmer. That's all, Folks. Very simple indeed. A suède finish has glitter OR shimmer on it, like a every shimmer on this planet, but it is his mat version. They are easy to spot among finishes because they are just like shimmer, but opaque. Easy, it isn't?

Certo che no! Ma oggi parliamo lo stesso dei belli belli in modo assurdo tra i finish esistenti: gli smalti suède.
Uno smalto suède è, in parole povere, uno shimmer opacizzato. Ha tutte le caratteristiche dello shimmer, con micropolveri in sospensione e a volte anche dei glitter veri e propri, ma opaco. Sono facilissimi da riconoscere proprio per il loro essere così simili agli shimmer che non ci si può sbagliare.

Orly Solid Gold is part of Orly's Metal Chic Metallic Matte Collection (Fall 2009). It's an antiqued gold, with a little hint of red. The formula is perfect (since 2009!) and the brush is failproof.  This kind of finish doesn't deserve any tip, just remember to clean up your nail with some drops of vinegar before doing your manicure. Using a grip base, like essence's 24/7 or Nfu Oh's Aqua Base is not necessary, but it will be very very helpful. 

Orly Solid Gold fa parte della Collezione Metal Chic Metallic Matte uscita nell'autunno del 2009. Il colore è un oro antico, con un goccio di rosso. La formula è ancora perfetta e il pennello a prova d'errore. Un trucco per far risaltare il finish è quello di sgrassare le unghie con qualche goccia di aceto da tavola prima di iniziare la manicure. Se poi usate una base grippante come 24/7 di essence o Aqua Base il lavoro sarà ancora più semplice.

I love this finish, because it reminds me a velvet effect (but I HATE velour or flurry or velvet nails). It's highly tactile, don't you agree? And this kind of finish dries very fast. Lovely!

Adoro questo finish perché mi ricorda l'effetto del velluto (e detesto con tutta l'anima l'effetto velour, invece). È estremamente materico, non trovate? E asciuga a vista d'occhio!!

Mi-ny Cosmetics, an italian brand, is looking for ten official bloggers. We have to matching polishes and did I.
I have only three polishes (and a fourth, a top coat) because there are not mi-ny stores in my city, but my three little babies smash!
So I took my three metals (Omotesando, Rodeo Drive and Bond Street), a black nail polish and a dotting tool and I gone wild, once in a while. 
It's all damn animalier's fault! It's so hot right now!

Sapate che mi-ny Cosmetics sta cercando dieci bloger ufficiali, vero? Tutto quello che dovete fare è scatenare la fantasia e mixare i colori tra di loro. Possiedo solo tre smalti mi-ny perché non ci sono negozio qui a Roma, ma i miei tre cuccioli spaccano di brutto!
Sicché ho preso i miei tre mi-ny (tre metallici, tanto per cambiare), uno smalto nero ed un dotting tool. E mi sono scatenata. Una volta ogni tanto si può fare, no?
E poi, l'animalier va un casino, quest'anno...

I painted my nails with two coats of a black nail polish (Barry M Nail Paint #47 Black), and I mattified with a matte top coat (Basic Beauty). Then, I took my three colors Omotesando (metal gold), Rodeo Drive (metal sage green) and Bond Street (metal light blue) and a dotting tool and I simply drew some spots over my nails. Leopard's spots are easy to do, you just draw a single bow a little dot and then another bow to close the mark. I created a gradient pattern on my right hand and I mixed the colors on my left. Because it's a super easy patter to do, I done it also with non-dominant hand. And it worked!
I didn't use any top coat, because I wanted enjoy the contrast between the shiny shiny metals over a matte base.

Ho steso due mani di uno smalto nero (Barry M Nail Paint #47 Black) e l'ho reso opaco con un top coat satinante (Basic Beauty). Quindi ho preso i miei tre gioielli, Omotesando (oro), Rodeo Drive (verde salvia) e Bond Street (azzurro) ed un dotting tool ed ho disegnato alcune macchie sulle unghie. Le rosette del Leopardo sono facilisisme da riprodurre: disegnate un arco, un puntino ed un altro arco a chiudere la macchia. Una sorta di ellisse non chiusa, in pratica. Ho creato un effetto sfumato sulla mano destra e ho mischiato i colori sulla sinistra. Visto che è un disegno facilissimo, sono riuscita a farlo anche con la sinistra!
Non ho usato il top coat perché volevo godermi il contrasto tra la lucentezza dei metallici sulla base opaca.
